Delaney Cross Mysteries
I started to write Delaney’s story a really, really, really long time ago. Back then I had no intention of ever putting enough work into this writing thing to be published. I just liked making stuff up.
Delaney is who I would have liked to be when I was 26 years old. She’s savvy, pragmatic, brilliant, and beautiful. She’s also just a little wounded.
When the series begins, Delaney is trying desperately to block out the fact that the 10th anniversary of her mother’s death is rapidly approaching. She’s about to defend her dissertation in Archaeology, and she’s looking forward to joining her dad and grandfather at their current dig site.
Somewhere inside she knows it’s hard for her dad to see her – Delaney looks just like her mom. She’s changed that a little by growing her dark hair long. For years she and her mom sported the same chin-length bob, which was so much easier for two girls that spent all their time digging in the dirt with hats squished onto their heads.
As Delaney gets closer to graduation more complications block her path. One of her twin brothers announces he’s engaged, she accepts a friend’s request to foster a dog, and her Uncle Tony is accused of murder. There is a lot to untangle before Delaney will feel right about boarding an airplane and leave her current life behind.
Luckily, the dog, Sputnik, has some mad detecting skills of her own. Although a Police Dog School dropout that refused to bite anyone, she did excel at the rest of her training.
Come along for the ride as Delaney and Sputnik—and the rest of Delaney’s oft zany friends and family—sniff out clues to solve a murder.
